Privacy Policy
Effective 14 August 2026
Plain-language summary: the game is local by default. Public leaderboard sharing is optional. Cloud backup happens only when you request a Treegen Code. We do not upload a watched wallet address, an uploaded photo or video, or exact practice GPS in a cloud backup.
Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Treegens handles information in Treegens Game. Privacy enquiries, access requests, correction requests, deletion requests, and complaints can be sent to jimi@wemakeimpact.org.
What stays on your device
Your game progress is stored in your browser by default. This can include your Treegen display name, game scores, virtual trees, demo balances, in-game collectibles, activity log, a public wallet address you choose to watch, and practice proof details. A selected photo or video is read locally and is not uploaded by this game. Exact GPS used in a practice proof stays in the local save.
What may be sent online
| Feature | Information | When |
|---|---|---|
| Public leaderboard | Random game ID, chosen display name, EXP, virtual-tree count, and Daily Storm score | Only after you opt in |
| Treegen Code backup | Sanitized game progress and the private restore code | Only when you press Create/update Treegen Code |
| Real Treegens totals | A request for public aggregate planting statistics | When the world map loads |
| Public-chain lookup | The public address you pasted and a standard token-balance request | Only when you choose to watch an address |
| Hosting security | Typical request data such as IP address, user agent, time, and requested page | When the hosting and API providers receive a request |
Cloud backups deliberately exclude watched wallet addresses, practice proof records and coordinates, selected media, and your leaderboard-consent setting.
Why we use it
We use the limited information above to run the features you request, restore a save, display an opt-in score, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and protect the service. We do not sell personal information, run behavioural advertising, or use uploaded practice media for AI training.
Providers and international processing
The game and shared APIs use Netlify infrastructure. Optional balance and price lookups use public Base RPC providers and DexScreener. Those providers may process network request data outside Australia under their own policies. Following the Buy real TGN link leaves this game and opens the separate buytgn.xyz service.
Your choices and rights
You can play without opting into the public leaderboard. In Fund → Privacy controls you can stop future sharing, delete this browser's public leaderboard entry, and delete its cloud backup. Reset game clears this browser's local save; exporting gives you a portable JSON copy. To ask about access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or a privacy complaint, email the address above and include the relevant Treegen Code or display name where available.
Children
Online sharing and cloud backup are not intended for children under 13 unless a parent or guardian manages the feature. Players under 13 should keep the game local and avoid entering a real name, wallet address, media, or location.
Security, retention and changes
We minimise online data and separate local-only information from optional online features. No internet service is perfectly secure. Online records are kept only as needed to operate the beta, prevent abuse, resolve requests, and meet legal obligations. This policy may change as the game changes; the effective date above will be updated.
